From the Boyden Reporter, May 28, 1936:

CLAUDIA McCRUM

Mrs. Claudia May McCrum, a resident of Boyden for many years, passed away early Thursday morning after suffering a heart attack.

Claudia Ransburg was born on a farm near Pleasant Lake, Ind., March 2nd, 1867, and died in Boyden, Iowa, May 21st, 1936, aged 69 years, 2 months and 19 days. On June 30th, 1887, she was married to John W. McCrum, who preceded her in death several years ago, having died February 10, 1921. Mrs. McCrum was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society and was affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two children, Mrs. Gerrit Rensink and Paul, both of Boyden, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, also two brothers, Mark and Paul Ransburg, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Gilbert, all of Pleasant Lake, Indiana.

Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Ransburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilbert of Pleasant Lake, Indiana.

From the Alton Democrat, May 29, 1936: Boyden News of Interest:

Mrs. Claudia M. McCrum died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gerrit Rensink, where she had made her home for the past 15 years, early Thursday morning. Death was caused by a heart attack and came as a shock to her family and many friends. She had been confined to her room only a few days and her condition not considered serious.

Mrs. McCrum is survived by two children, Paul T. and Mrs. Rensink, both of Boyden. Five grandchildren, Mrs. Lorain Koon of Los Angeles, Glenn and Lynn McCrum, Dorothy and Richard Rensink, all of Boyden, also survive, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Gilbert, and two brothers, Mark and Paul Ransburg, all of Pleasant Lake, Indiana.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, with Rev. John Brink, pastor of the Reformed church, officiating.

(Also in the same column: Mr. and Mrs. Mark Ransburg and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilbert of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, who came on Friday to attend the funeral of their sister, Mrs. C. M. McCrum, returned to their homes Sunday. Others from out-of-town who came to the funeral included Mrs. Fred Wagner, Mrs. Victor Powers and Mrs. Leonard Blok of Sanborn, the Henry Van Nyhuis family, Mr. and Mrs. Tebbe Stientjes, of Sheldon, and the Henry Kamminga family of Moneta.)
