Cornelius M. Vugteveen, 73, longtime resident of Rock Valley, died last Thursday morning at the Sioux Center hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Durant T. Van Oyen officiating with funeral under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home.

Mr. Vugteveen was born Sept. 20, 1891 at New Holland, S.D. and married Jennie Ten Harmsel. They farmed in the Rock Valley area until retiring to town in 1964.

Survivors include the widow; 4 daughters, Mrs. James Vander Schaaf of Ireton, Mrs. Joe Vugteveen of Birnamwood, Wis.; Miss Hermina Vugteveen of Grand Rapids,; and Mrs. Allen Vander Lugt of Salt Lake City, a son, Harold of Hull, two sisters, Miss Martha Vugteveen of Newborg, Ore.; and Mrs. Walter Kooiman of Rock Valley,; two brothers, Pete of Maurice, and Lane of Valley Springs, S.D. and six grandchildren.
