HAROLD BYRNE FINNIE PASSED AWAY SATURDAY MORNING--DEATH FOLLOWED THAT OF SISTER BY JUST ELEVEN DAYS--TWO OTHERS IN FAMILY STILL ILL

Harold Byrne Finnie, second son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Helen (Miller) Finnie, passed away at his home, five miles northwest of Hawarden, at 3 o’clock Saturday morning from typhoid fever. His death occurred just eleven days following that of his sister, Frances Eleanor Finnie, from the same dread disease. Two other members of the family, Mr. Finnie and son Jack, are still ill with the disease.

Funeral services were held at the Associated Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Ray T.H. Harding. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Harold Byrne Finnie was born on a farm in Union County, South Dakota, northwest of Hawarden, January 9, 1913 and passed away August 31, 1935, at the age of 22 years, 7 months and 22 days. All of his life was spent in this community. He attended the rural school in his home district and later attended the Hawarden High School. Since leaving school he had assisted with the work on the farm. He was a great favorite among his friends and associates and was known for his cheerfulness and unselfishness.

Besides his parents he is survived by one sister, Katherine, and two brothers, Donald and Jack. Donald had been in Alaska for some time but arrived home less than two weeks ago after he had been advised of the illness in the family. He also leaves many other relatives and friends who are deeply grieved at his passing.

The entire community sympathizes deeply with the affliction which has beset the family in recent weeks and all will join in the hope that those who are still suffering from the malady may soon regain their health and strength.
