FRED FINNIE SUCCUMBS IN HOSPITAL AFTER SUFFERING INJURIES IN FALL--RESIDENT HERE 75 YEARS DIES

Fred Finnie, 75, a resident of Hawarden and vicinity all his life, died early Friday morning at the Hawarden Hospital.

Mr. Finnie’s death was attributed in part to injuries suffered in a fall when he was run into by a youngster on Central Avenue. The attending physician said he suffered three fractured ribs in the fall.

Funeral services were held at the Barnard Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend T.A. Mansen officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Frederick James Finnie, son of John and Harriet Finnie, was born on a farm northwest of Hawarden in Union County, August 21, 1874. He married Viva Collins of Hawarden January 1, 1901. She preceded him in death October 2, 1946, and since that time Mr. Finnie lived at the Gladstone Hotel.

Survivors are a son, Albert Finnie of Huntington Park, California; a grandson, John Finnie of Fargo, North Dakota; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Olson of Hawarden, and three brothers, Will of Waverly, Minnesota, Ed of Alcester and Robert of Clinton, Iowa.

When a young man he united with the Presbyterian Church in Hawarden.
