Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Finch, 87, lifelong resident of this area who died at the Mapes Nursing Home Wednesday of last week, were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Associated Church.

Reverend William Sebring officiated with the Barnard Funeral Home in charge of interment. Mrs. Ralph Gregg, the soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Hal Shoemaker at the organ.

Casket bearers included Calvin Smith, Warren Miller, Dwight Wilson, Russell Bergdale, Leslie Kratochvil and Lloyd Lundeen.

Mrs. Finch was born July 14, 1874, near Beresford, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Behnke.

She married Will A. Finch January 18, 1893, and they resided in Union County. He died in 1948. For the past 13 years Mrs. Finch made her home in Hawarden and until her illness was unusually active for her age.

In addition to caring for her family, Mrs. Finch made a home for a niece, Laura Alien, and a grandson, Wilbur March.

She had been a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hawarden since 1893.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Dora, in 1924;two sons, Harvey in 1942 and Julius in 1957; four sisters and one brother. Survivors include three daughters, Ester, Mrs. Albert Carpenter and Ida, Mrs. Charles Cooper, both of Hawarden, and Florence, Mrs. Orrin Larson of Alcester; two sons, Ray Finch of Hawarden and Ralph Finch of Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Perry Shuck of Alcester; three brothers, Edward, Willie and Elmer Behnke, all of Beresford; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
