Edward Benit of Ireton Succumbs

Funeral services for Edward George Carl Benit, 61, who died Thursday at his home in Ireton following a long illness, were held Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran church at Ireton. Rev. Paul Friedrich officiated with burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of the Satterlee Funeral home. Mrs. Wilbur Eilers was the organist with Mrs. Lee Hemmingson as soloist. Casket bearers included Harvey Boisen, Emory Vlotho, Robert Fritz, Andy Mars, Louis Braaks arid Preston, Juffer.

Mr. Benit was born May 1, 1901, on a farm southwest of Ireton, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Benit. He moved to Ireton with his parents when they retired from the farm. An auto mechanic, he operated his own shop for a time after which he was employed at the Sinkey garage until he became ill about two years ago. He never married.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Henry, jr., and two brothers who died in infancy. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alma Gardner of Redlands, Calif., and several nieces and nephews
