AGED LADY PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY EVENING AT HOME OF HER DAUGHTER, MRS. J.O. LIND

Mrs. Christine Ericson, an aged resident of this city, passed away about 8 o’clock Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.D. Lind. Her death was due to infirmities incident to her advanced years. A number of years ago she fell and broke her hip and never robust health after the accident. She failed quite steadily during the past winter and had been bedfast for several weeks.

Mrs. Ericson was born in Sweden, August 18, 1838, so had reached the advanced age of 87 years, 8 months and 24 days. As a widow she came to America in 1886 with her family of two sons and two daughters. She located on a farm about five miles west of Hawarden, adjoining the farm of her twin brother, who had homesteaded his place nearly twenty years before. Here she looked after the management of her farm and although she endured many privations and hardships she managed to wrest a living for her family from the farm.

Ten years ago she came to Hawarden and has since made her home with her daughter Mrs. Lind. Two children survived her, Mrs. T.B. Black of Lusk, Wyoming, who has been at her bedside during her final illness, and L.D. Ericson, residing southwest of Hawarden. She leaves 8 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her aged twin brother, Lars Peterson, who is still enjoying good health at the home of his son, J.L. Peterson, on the old homestead west of town. Mrs. Ericson and Mr. Peterson were probably the oldest twins in this section of the country.

Mrs. Ericson was a devout Christian and practiced true Christianity and neighborliness in her every day life. She gave freely of her means to various missions and to charitable work and was ever counted a true friend to those in need. Her death will be sincerely mourned by many outside the family circle.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the J.O. Lind residence with Reverend J.W. LaGrone, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill Cemetery.
