Sioux County Capital October 27, 1994

Mrs. A. Geneva Baer, 91, of Orange City, died Friday, Oct. 21, 1994 at the Long Term Care Facility in the Orange City Hospital. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 24, at 9:00 a.m. at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Harlan Van Oort of the American Reformed Church in Orange City officiated. Committal services were held at 3:00 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery at Browns Valley, Minn.

Anna Geneva was born June 1, 1903 at South Holland, IL, the daughter of Roel A. and Bertha (Coole) Swynenberg. In 1910 she moved with her parents to Carnes where they operated a grocery store.

In the early 1930s she married Nick Bouma at Orange City. He died in 1944 at Orange City. On March 3, 1946 she married Lawrence S. Baer at Luverne, Minn. They lived at Browns Valley where they operated a hardware store. In 1976 they moved to Orange City. Mr. Baer died March 5, 1978 at Orange City.

In May of 1992 Mrs. Baer became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Orange City. She had been a member of the Legion Auxiliary in both Orange City and Browns Valley and the Eastern Star in Browns Valley.

Survivors include her six grandchildren and their spouses, Vicki and Steve Miller, Jordan, Minn.; Mark and Kathy Baer, Aberdeen, S.D.; Kristi and Tom Kontz, Alberta, Minn.; Debra and Robert Baumbach, Fargo, N.D.; Angela and Marty Mixell, Slayton, Minn.; and Nickole and Kevin Anderson, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and nine great-greatchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jack Baer and Nickolas Bouma, and a brother, Edward Swynenberg.
