Evelyn VanDer Stoep, 77, of Ireton, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral Service were April 2 at the First Reformed Church in Ireton with the Rev. Doug Van Aartsen officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden assisted the family with arrangements.

Evelyn J. Van Der Stoep was born July 2,1929 near Le Mars, the daughter of Arie and Anna (Bolluyt) Van Driel. She graduated from Ireton High School in 1947 and received a Teaching Certificate from Westmar College in Le Mars. She taught in rural schools near Ireton and married Richard De Vries May 28,1949 in Ireton. They lived in Rock Valley and later farmed near McNally. Richard died on April 22,1965. Following his death, Evelyn moved into Ireton where she was employed at the Security Savings Bank for over 20 years until her retirement.

She married Dick VanDer Stoep on April 3,1981. The couple made their home in Ireton. Dick died on March 27,2005. Evelyn was an active member of the First Reformed Church with Bible Study and as Treasurer of the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered as a foster grandparent at the Ireton Christian School.

She is survived by three children, Rodney De Vries of Red Oak, Ruth Westergard of Hawarden and Debra De Vries of Ireton; two step children, Larry Van Der Stoep and Lyle Van Der Stoep, of Maurice; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Nella De Vries of Elkton, S. D., Marlene Johnson of Des Plaines, 111., Arlin Van Driel of Ireton and MaryAnn Van Driel of Sioux Center. She preceded in death by her husbands, Richard and Dick, and a brother, Marvin Van Driel.
