MRS. DEVRIES A NATIVE OF NETHERLANDS
Remembered — Her Useful Life and Kind Deeds
Mrs. Dora De Vries, nee Klay, of Orange City, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 17, in the De Bey hospital. Over six months ago she suffered a paralytic stroke and was removed to the hospital She was 70 years and three months of age.

Dora Klay was born at Lutjenwinkel Neth. In 1861. She came to this country in 1882 and a month after her arrival was married to Mr. Jacob De Vries of Orange City. Who died in 1902. Mrs. De Vries was the mother of five children of whom two survive their mother, Jacob and Charles. Two died in infancy and a daughter Mrs. E. J. Kraai, Lizzie died in 19__ She is survived by a sister, Mrs. G. Zeeman of San Bernardino CA, and a half Brother Walter Klay of Long Beach.

Mrs. De Vries was a member of the American Reformed church and the Orange City unit of the American Legion Auxilary. She was beloved by many friends known to all for her good and kindly deeds. It is recalled that in earlier years she went to the aid of a family who were in quarantine and could not get outside help, and nursed them back to health.

Funeral services were in charge of Rev. L. Nattress Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs Charles De Vries. (She was died 17 Nov 1940 West Lawn Cem Orange City IA)

(The 1925 census lists Jacob as 65 years born Apr 1835 Holland and Dora born Aug 1861 Holland married 1882. The marriage record lists Jacob De Vries age 48 married 13 Apr 1882 in Sioux County IA, estimated year of birth to be 1834, married Dora Klay age 21 born 1861 her parents were Klaas Klay and Elisabeth Dekker)
