Cornelius Brunsting, 87, Sioux Falls, formerly of Boyden, died Sunday January 15, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday January 18, at the First Reformed Church in Boyden, with the Reverend Mark Volkers officiating. Intement followed at the Sheridan Township cemetery near Boyden.

Brunsting was born May 22, 1907 at Hull, the son of Ralph and Ella (Groendyke) Brunsting. He was raised at Hull.

On January 10, 1933, he married Jean Baartman at Middleburg. They lived in Northwest Iowa, mostly Boyden, where he operated a trucking service hauling farm products.

In April 1991, they moved to Sioux Falls, and in April 1994, he became a resident of the Covington Heights Care Facility in Sioux Falls. Brunsting was a member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Ruby and her husband, Ed Den Herder of Wakefield, Nebraska; Carol Ten Braak of Sioux Falls; Corleen and her husband, Allan Meendering of Sioux Falls; Pete Brunsting and his wife, Denise, of Brookings, South Dakota; and Dennis, and his wife, Sue, of Sioux Falls; 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie Wegter of Hull and Harriet Van Ommeren of Sheldon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Ten Braak, a grandson, two sisters, Nell Vander Vliet and Mina Brunsting; and a brother, Luke Brunsting.
