With the physical death of Magdalena Breuer, a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hull, Iowa, had left us. The facts of her life are as follows: Magdelena Sophia Beckman, daughter of Henry Beckman and Marie Harm, was born August 15, 1883, in Lyon County, Iowa. Consecrated to the Lord in Holy Baptism on October 14, 1883, she renewed her baptismal vow through the rite of Confirmation on April 13, 1898. She became the bride of Henry Breuer on April 6, 1904, and this union was blessed with eight children.

An unusual feature of her life was that she lived on farms in the same section of land (6 miles northeast of Hull) throughout her earthly pilgrim age.

Since January 1, 1934, she has been a widow. Always a woman of robust health, she was taken ill with gall bladder the trouble some three weeks before her death. The end came, however, from a sudden and unexpected blood clot on August 4, 1959, eleven days before her 76th birthday.

Survivors include seven children: Henry, of Hull; (Katie) Mrs. Alfred Tiedemann of Hull; (Ella) Mrs. Arlie Techen of Doon; Emil, of Hull; (Martha) Mrs. Karl Hansmann of Rushmore, Minnesota; Walter, of Sibley; and (Erma), Mrs. Rudolf Fick of Rock Rapids. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pederson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Mrs. Louise Lutjens of Hull, and one brother, B.H. Beckman of Hull.

One son, Herman, preceded his mother in death. Her parents and two brothers preceded her into eternity.

Before her passing she had the privilege of seeing 27 grandchildren added to the family tree. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her wish was that her grandsons carry her to her last resting place. This was done.

So we say farewell in the words of Holy Scripture, “There is no condemnation for them who are in Christ Jesus.
