James Junior Breuer, 62, of Ashton died Saturday, April 3, 1993 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley following a sudden illness.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ashton. The Reverend Joseph A. Kerwin celebrated. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church under the direction of the Walton-Roste Funeral Home Funeral Home in Ashton.

Mr. Breuer was born June 13, 1930 in Ashton, the son of Val and Bernadette (Schwartzkopf) Breuer. He grew up in Ashton and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949-51. During the Korean War, he was awarded several medals, including the Bronze Star. He married Donna Keegan May 12, 1953 in Doon. He worked at various jobs before starting at the Farmers Co-op Oil Company in Sheldon in 1962. Mrs. Breuer died December 18, 1972, and he continued to live in Sheldon, retiring in 1977 because of poor health. He moved to Ashton in 1991.

Mr. Breuer was a member of William Ben Hoffman Post 290, American Legion of Ashton, the Knights of Columbus in Ashton and Sky High Flyers Club in Sheldon.

Survivors include seven daughters, Barb Chinlund and her husband Al of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Bonnie Huygens and her husband Jim of Orange City, Kathy Jorgensen and her husband Rich of Des Moines, Theresa Maslen and her husband David of Arkansas City, Kansas, Mary Sindt and her husband Mark of Davenport, Laurie Breuer of Pilot Station, Alaska, and Margaret Westre and her husband Scott of Eagan, Minnesota; three sons, Jim Breuer and his wife Cathy of Portland, Oregon, Steve Breuer of Sioux City, and Bill Breuer of Apple Valley, California; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Donna Kalivoda of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.
