John L. Rus, 92 died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica, S.D. on Tues. Sept. 15, 2015
Funeral services were held at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Corsica with burial at the Graceland Cemetery in Corsica.
John L. Rus was born on May 12, 1923 to Lane and Jennie( Zomer) Rus in Corsica, S.D.He attended school at Plainview Country School near Corsica. He lived his life in the Corsica area where he farmed.
He married Hattie Van Voorst in Sioux Center, IA. They were married 70 years and 7 children were born to them. John was a member of Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Corsica. He enjoyed woodworking and going to the sale barn.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Hattie Rus of Corsica, 6 children, Arlene (Norm) Vande n Hoek of Plankinton, S.D., Shirley Van Voorst and friend Arlyn of Rock Valley, IA., Henry (Marcia) Rus of Corsica, S.D., Jack and friend Cheryl of Corsica, and Arnold (Wanda) Rus of Chamberlain, S.D., 2 sisters, Anna Rus of Corsica, and Cobie (Henry) Frens of Waupun, WI, 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jeanette and her husband Marlin Johnson, brothers Jakie and Herman, sister, Cora and her husband John Van Voorst, grandson, Jeremy Rus, and great-great-grandson, Peyton Ymker.
