Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Ref. church of Orange City for Mrs. Stephen De Jong, 87, who passed away Sept. 6 at the local hospital following a brief illness. The Rev. R. R. Van Heukelom and the Rev. Robert Bast officiated at the services. Interment was made in the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Mrs. De Jong, nee Johanna M. Mouw, was born Oct. 10, 1877, on a farm north of Orange City. She was united in marriage to Stephen De Jong in 1902. They became the parents of five children. Mr. De Jong passed away in 1959. Survivors are two daughters: Nellie (Mrs. Edward Meier) of Coleridge, Neb.; Earline at home; one son, Bernard, at home; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband and two sons: Earl and Peter.
