MRS. ATSE DE JONG
Jessie Terpstra was born June 5, 1877 at Minnertsga, Province of Friesland, The Netherlands, and came to America with her parents in 1892 and settled at Orange City. She was united in marriage on Feb. 11, 1897 to Atse De Jong at Orange City and lived for 11 years near Newkirk, then 11 years near Boyden and 21 years ago moved to a farm north of Hull. Retiring from the farm they moved into town.

To this union five children were born: Joe, now of Boyden. Gerrit of Bellflower, Calif., Jake and Clarence near Hull and Coba Rena at home. Mrs. De Jong was taken ill about a month ago suffering from cancer and was in the local hospital for a while and later removed to a Sioux City hospital to take treatments and later taken to her home. June 16 she was again taken to the local hospital where she passed away at o'clock Tuesday morning June 18 1940.

She leaves to mourn her passing besides the husband and five children, two sisters Mrs. Balk Weirda of Hull and Mrs. John Brandts of Chandler, Minn, three brothers and three sisters and parents preceded her in death. grandchildren and 1 great grand child also survive.
