Mrs. Melle De Jong succumbs at age 88
Funeral services were held Thursday Dec 25 in the First Chr. Ref. church in Orange City for Mrs. Melle De Jong, 88 who passed away Dec 21, Rev. John B. Hlst officiated. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wobbema, who were accompanied by Miss Janice Bruxvoort organist. Pallbearers were Ronald De Jong, James Goslinga, Bert B Gesink, John B. Geslnk, Merle van Klompenburg and Rodney Van Klompenburg. Interment was in the Orange City Cemetery.

Mrs. De Jong was born Ida Graanstra on May 10, 1875 In the Netherlands and came to the United States at the age of 16. She was married to Melle De Jong on December 12 1897. She had been ill for the last two years and was a patient in the Geriatrics Ward of theMunicipal Hospital. She waspreceded in death by her husbandin November, 1947.

She is survived by three daughters Mrs. Ben Gesink Minnie, Mrs. John Vermeer Jennie, Mrs. Gerrit Van Klompenberg Bertha, and a son Robert M. De Jong, all of Orange City , 16 grand and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.
