After a brief illness of a few hours of hemorrahage of the brain Mr. Fred Born passed away at the Holland Home at Sheldon, Iowa, on Friday, November 3, reaching the age of 76 years and 10 months.

He was born in Vriezeland, The Netherlands on January 28, 1863. At the age of 24 he came to America and lived in Carroll county.

On September 6, 1893 he was united in marriage to Fanega Van Zalen, who preceded him in death on April 17, 1915.

To this union five daughters were born, Anna, Mrs. John Kool of Orange City; Hannah, Mrs. John R. Groot, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Margaret, Mrs. Emery Pals, Sioux Center, Iowa; Hilda, Mrs. Hilda Winter of Orange City and Nellie, Mrs. Ross Houtman of Sioux City, Iowa.

On September 15, 1920 he was united in marriage to Dirkje Bosch, who preceded him in death on January 17, 1937.

Funeral services were held at the Holland Home at Sheldon and interment was made in Orange City.

Those at the funeral were Jake Tebben from Lake View, lowa; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Tebben, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Jargen Tebben from Albert City, lowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Quirk of Storm Lake; Henry Stemblock of Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Franken, Sioux Center; Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Bosch, Mr. and Mrs. John Bosch all form Steen, Minnesota, and from the Orange City vicinity were Mr. and Mrs. C. Kool, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kool and Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Roelfson and Mrs. Dyke.
