The death of J. P. Kenkel, residing north of town, occurred Tuesday evening after a two weeks illness of lung fever and heart trouble. The deceased had been bothered with leakage of the heart for some time and death was looked for at any time. During the last few day of his illness he was cared for by a trained nurse and everything was done to sustain life. The death of the deceased is made all the more sad because of the fact the his wife died on June 2nd of this year and 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 14 years are left without a father or mother’s tender hand.

J. P. Kenkel was born in Leiferingen, Luxemburg in 1867. He was united in marriage to Anna Katrine Lilling in 1892 in the old country, moving to America and settling at Granville in 1893 where hey lived until 1895, when they again moved this time going to Alton. A short time later they came to Plymouth county where they have since resided. Six children, three boys and three girls, are left to mourn the loss of a good and loving father. They are Will, Lucy, Nick, Tracey, Louise and Maggie all of whom have been living at home.

The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock at the St. Joseph church, Rev. Father F. X Feuerstein will have charge of the services and interment will take place beside the remains of his wife in St. Joseph cemetery.
