S. De Boer passed away at his home in Rock Valley Friday Oct. 23, 1931, following a lingering illness of several months. Mr. De Boer was born in the Netherlands , May 9, 1860, and had attained the age of sixty five years, four months and fourteen days. His early life was spent in his native land, where he received his education and grew to manhood. He was married in the Netherlands to Miss Alice Jaspers, forty two years ago last September 25th. He came with his wife and four children to this country thirty three years ago last march. They located at Boyden and resided there eight months, and from there moved to Minnesota where they lived until they moved to Rock Valley a little over three and a half years ago.

He leaves a wife and nine children, Mrs. Sam DeZeeuw, Rock Valley; Will De Boer, and Mrs. John Pap, Pease MN; Gerard, Peter Martin, Jake and Cornelius De Boer and Mrs. Will Kooiman all of Chicago. He also leave twenty five grandchildren. Two children died in infancy.

Funeral services were held n the Chr. Ref. Church in Rock Valley Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. Gritter, and the remains taken to Valley View cemetery. All the children were here for the funeral services. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends.

Sikke De Boer in the 1930 census of Rock Valley, he was 63 yrs born Neth. Wife was Alice 62 yrs. Born Neth. Sikke DeBoer born 11 May 1866 Franekeradeel, Friesland Neth. Died 1931 Iowa. He was the son of Pieter De Boer 1838-1920 and Jacoba Westra 1841-1800. His wife was Alltje Jaspers
