The community was shocked by the news of the death of Tom De Boer who died Wednesday afternoon, following a stroke, leaving his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Cleveringa of Sheldon and Mrs. Smith of Hospers, and a host of other relatives and friends, to mourn their loss. Mr. De Boer was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1858, and came to Sioux County in 1878, 52 years ago. His quiet and unassuming manner made him many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon, Mr. De Boer having been a member of the church for 40 years. Rev. R. B. Budd officiating. Interment was made at the Presbyterian cemetery.

Notice in probate has been issued for Oct 21 at 10 in the estates of Thomas L. De Boer deceased.
Born Dec 1857 OH died 1930 Iowa , son of Jaocb De Boer and Anne Wynia, his wife was Annie Dyk 1858-1949
