Mr. K. DeBoer died Wednesday, August 4, 1920, at his home, one mile east of Hospers, as a result of cancer of the glands and bladder, aged nearly 61 years. Mr. DeBoer had been ailing for a number of years but was confined1 to his house only the past few months and although the seriousness of his condition was realized by his friends, the news of his death came as a shock to all.
Klaas DeBoer was born at Vriesland, Netherlands, on September 12, 1860. He came to the TJ. S. in 1875 at the age of 15 and has lived in this vicinity the past 36 years. He was married to Lucretta Tolsma who preceded him in death twenty years ago.
He Is survived by seven children and six grandchildren, and two brothers and two sisters. The children are: John and Martin of Castlewood , S; D., William, Clarence1, Mrs S. Bolkema, Mrs. Joe Boender and Mrs. John Bolkema of Hospers. The brothers and sisters reside in SD and at Humbolt IA. The funeral will be held Saturday. August 7th, with services at the house and at the First Reformed church in charge of Rev. Douwstra.
Mr. DeBoer was a kind and indulgent parent and a good neighbor and staunch friend and the children have the sincere sympathy of all In their Irreparable loss.
