On the 27th of Feb. 1924 at 6:00 It behooved God Almighty to take to Himself, Mr. Gossen De Boer . For some time Mr. DeBoer had been ailing with heart trouble, which accompanied with an attack of pneumonia, after a short period of Illness, caused his death.

Mr. De Boer who was one of the most esteemed and highly respected citizens of Hull, Iowa came to this country 55years ago. His father and his two brothers, one of which is still living, Mr. Dowe DeBoer of Alton Iowa came to this country from the Island of Terschelling Netherlands where Mr. De Boer was born 69 years ago. Three sisters have remained in the Netherlands all of which have preceded him in death, also on brother who died several years ago in S. D.

Mr. De Boer first lived in Illinois but soon left for Iowa, where by far the greatest part of his life was spent. After having been in Ackley, Iowa for a few years he move to Alton IA where he spent 17 years. Here at Alton he married Miss Mina De Roos in the year 1883. Out of this wedlock 5 children were born who are all living at present. In the year 1893 Mr. De Boer and his family all moved to Hull, IA and has ever since been the place of his home. While here he soon won the confidence and esteem of his fallow men and became know as a very prosperous and industrious citizen of whom the community could be proud.

Mr. De Boer was a very faithful member and officer of the First Reformed church of Hull IA. For 23 years he served the church as deacon. He was buried from this church on Saturday March 1, 1924. Rev. J. H. Kregel his pastor and Rev. Ch. Stoppels pastor of the American Reformed church officiating.

Mr. De Boer is survived by his widow Mrs. M. De Boer and 5 children. Mr. Cornelius DeBoer of Arlingoton SD; Mrs. Fannie Baker of Holland Mich; Mr. John De Boer of Hull, and Rev. D.J. De Boer of Marlborough NY, 10 grandchildren and his only brother Mr Douwe De Boer of Alton IA.
