Fred Bohr, 57, of rural Alton was killed instantly Saturday evening when the pickup truck he was driving was struck by the engine of a Chicago and North Western Railway Company, fright train a mile south of Alton.

The Iowa highway patrol reported the pickup driven by Bohr was crossing the tracks after turning off the highway and was struck by the Northbound train. The truck was demolished.

Note: His parents are Henry and Antonettie Zweibohmer Bohr and he was married to Carola (Wolf) Bohr. They had one son, Henry and nine brothers and sisters.
