Roy Bomgaars A World War II Vet

Roy Bomgaars of Rock Valley, who died January 9, at the Veterans hospital, Sioux Falls, where he had been a patient two months, was born to Marinus and Anna (DeYoung) Bomgaars at Hospers August 31, 1909, and grew up in that vicinity.

He farmed near Rock Valley until a few years ago when he retired and moved into town. He was married to Catherine (Van De Vegte)Bomgaars.

He was a veteran of World War II and very active in the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine & by a step son, Vernon Van Dyke, who is stationed in Puerto Rico.

One brother, Arie Bomgaars of Orange City, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Van, Riessen of Sheldon and Mrs. Celia Miersma of Bellflower, California, also survive.

Funeral services were held January 12 in the First Reformed Church, Rock Valley.
