Richard George Bogaard passed away at the De Bey Hospital on Sunday, November 27, during the late afternoon, following a six days illness.

He entered the hospital on Thanksgiving day for an operation. A gangrenous appendix was found and his condition gradually grew worse until Sunday when he succumber of streptocci infection.

Richard was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Nic D. and Kathryn (Brolsma) Bogaard living northwest of town. He was born on the farm on January 27, 1919 [sic] where he grew to manhood and became his father's able assistant.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Clifford Dale and Milton David, two sisters, Kathleen Faye and Ruth Jean.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 at the home and 1:30 at Trinity church with the Reverend Mr. J.G. Brouwe officiating. Interment was made in Orange City Cemetery.
