Sioux County Capital July 6, 1977

Johanna De Beer, 72, died Sunday evening following a sudden illness. Mrs. De Beer was born
February 27, 1905, on a farm near Orange City, the daughter of Peter and Wilmina De Vries. On February 4, 1927, she was married to John De Beer near Orange City. The couple farmed near Carnes prior to moving to Orange City in 1968. Mrs. De Beer was a member of the First Reformed Church and the Lydia Circle.

Survivors are her husband, John; two sons, Fre4 of Orange City and John Jr. of San Diego, Cal.; five daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Darlene) Vander Aarde of Andhra Pradesh, South India, Mrs. Dave (Minerva)Van Peursem of Orange City, Mrs. Kermit (Marilyn) Hoffs of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Walter J. (Ruth) Wilson of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., and Mrs. Duane (Laura) Peuse of Holstein, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Bill (Arta) Huisman, Mrs. Clarence (Dena) Jonker, and Mrs. Henry (Clarine) Westra, all of Orange City, Mrs. Edward (Hattie De Groot of Denver, Col., Mrs. Marvin (Winifred) Van Myden of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Dick (Myna) Fallow of Davenport, Iowa; and three brothers, Edwin (Bert) of Denver, Col., Herman of Russelville, Ark., and Peter De Vries of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by one son, Peter, a grandson, Leon Vander Aarde, and a brother, John.
