Sioux County Capital August 12, 1937

DR. ALBERT DE BEY
Dr. A. De Bey, 76, veteran northwestern Iowa physician and surgeon passed away at his home Thursday morning after an illness of several years. Dr. De Bey was born at Staatskamail, province of Drent, The Netherlands, March 25 1861. He came to America with his parents in 1869 and settled in Chicago. It was there he received his public and high school education. Later he entered Rush Medical College from which he graduated in 1884. After three years of practice in Chicago and New York he returned to the west. He practiced for a short time in Alton and in 1887 he located at Orange City where he practiced until ill health forced him to retire in 1934. A number of years ago he established and maintained a well equipped private hospital.

Doctor De Bey has been a leader in advancing the standards of his profession and in promoting health. He was government medical examiner during the World war, was a member of the state board of health and its president in 1909 being appointed by Gov. Cummins and serving until 1515. For twenty years he was commissioner of insanity for Sioux county. He was a member of the various medical organizations and was a member of the American Reformed church

He is survived by his widow, and Five children: Dr. John G. De Bey, Orange City; Dr. C. De Bey, Denver, CO; Marcia, Mrs. George Demsey Fargo ND; Albert of Denver; and Dick of Orange City. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home with Rev. Mr. L. Nattress of the American Reformed ; church and Dr. Milton Hoffman of New Brunswick, New Jersey officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City cemetery

(A family history done by the Dempsey family lists Dr. Albert De Bey M. D. 25 March 1861-Aug 5, 1937 Orange City, Sioux Co., Iowa. He was the son of Jan Gerardus De Beij/DeBey and Engeltje De Jonge.
He was married to Anna Elizabeth Vande Wolff who died 1887 and then he married Gertrude Johanna Bolks (see her obit) H was the father of five children.)
