Mr. Peter Boer, Sr., died at his home at Rock valley at the age of 78 years, 7 months, 6 days. He was born at Wildevok, Holland, November 17, 1870. He came to America in 1886, where he lived four years at New Holland, South Dakota, and came to Sioux County in 1890. He was married to Miss Lizzie Travallie on July 13, 1899. Mr. and Mrs. Boer farmed in the vicinity of Lebanon and Rock Valley until 1944, when they moved to Rock valley and resided there until his death.

One son, Henry preceded him in death in 1930 at the age of 22. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Peter Boer, Rock Valley and children: Herman and Ray of Rock Valley, John of Alton; Effie, Mrs. Joe Smeenk of Orange City and Ella, Mrs. Hervert Lovering of Rock Valley, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Will Vanden Bos of Platte, South Dakota, one brother, John Boer of Sheldon and four step sisters: Mrs. Lanny Wiersma of Orange City, Mrs. N. Kempenma of Rock Valley, Mrs. John Schoep of Edgerton, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ben Bolt, New Holland, South Dakota.

Mr. Boer was a charter member of the Christian Reformed Church.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed Church at Rock Valley Monday afternoon with Rev. H. Kuyper officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery.
