Services Saturday for Gerrit Bloemendaal, long-time 0range City resident.

Funeral services for Gerrit J. Bloemendaal, 78, long-time resident of Orange City, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Reverend H. Roelofs, pastor of Second Christian Reformed and Reverend John Masselink of Luverne, Minnesota, former pastor at Second Christian, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Bloemendaal died Tuesday of a heart attack at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. He had been ill for two days.

Born May 12, 1883 at Alton, he was the son of Everett J.G. and Johanna (Van Ek) Bloemendaal. He married Ann Noteboom in 1905 and in 1916 they moved to Orange City.

He had been in the hatchery and meat market businesses in Orange City and was a prominent purebred hog raiser for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eva Oordt and Mrs. Harriet Rens and a son, Arie Bloemendaal, all of Orange City. Also surviving are three brothers, Ralph and Henry of Orange City and William of Spencer and a sister, Mrs. Wm. Van Steenwyk of Orange City.

Six other brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Roy Haenfler, Don Ford, Alden Menning, Larry Bloemendaal, Gene Nichols and Kent Douglas Rens. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Ralph Bouma and Jerry Reinsma. Burial will be in the Orange City Cemetery.
