Mrs. Margaret Hubers, age 92, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a funeral service on Sunday, May 22, at 4:00pm, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Wick Hubers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. Visitation will be after 2:30pm on Sunday, with the family present from 2:30pm to 4:00pm, at the CHURCH.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Margaret was born on February 11, 1924, at Fairview, South Dakota, the daughter of Jim and Henrietta “Reka” (Vander Ven) Herweyer. She was raised on a farm near Sioux Center and attended a country school.

On December 27, 1946, she married Henry J. Hubers, at Hawarden. They made their home in northwest Iowa, except for a short time when they lived in California. They were members of the First Reformed Church in Maurice, where they were youth leaders. Henry passed away on August 23, 1986, in Orange City, after more than 39 years of marriage.

“Mike” enjoyed going on mission trips with the church, sewing, quilting, making Christmas stockings and ornaments, being outdoors, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to express their great appreciation for the care Mike received at Prairie Ridge Care Center.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Cheryl and Phil Schiebout, of Orange City; Terry and Mary Hubers, of Sioux Center; Wick and Deb Hubers, of Alton; Kathy and Phil Dykstra, of Maurice; and Leon and Rachel Hubers, of Orange City; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Anne and Don Brommer, of Sioux Center, and Henrietta and Peter Daale, of Hawarden; and a sister-in-law, Joey Herweyer, of Sioux Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Christian Hubers and Wendy Dykstra; three brothers, Bill Herweyer, and his wife, Julia, Hank Herweyer, and his wife, Rose, and Fritz Herweyer; and a sister, Jen, and her husband, Case Bleeker.
