Mrs. Maynel “Jill” Beyer, age 68, of Hull, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

There will be a private graveside service on Monday, May 9, at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. The Rev. Steven Bierly will officiate. There will be a public visitation with the family present on Monday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the American Reformed Church in Hull.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Maynel Marie was born on October 5, 1947, at Hull, the daughter of Wilbur Maynard and Florence Viola (Reimers) Heemskerk. She was raised at Boyden and graduated from the Boyden-Hull Public High School in Hull.

On February 25, 1966, she married Alan James Beyer in Boyden. Except for a short time in Newport News, Virginia, when he was serving in the United States Army, they made their home at Hull.

Jill had been a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden and the Rolling Hills Country Club in Hull.

Besides being a homemaker, she was employed in a variety of occupations, and she assisted with farming, especially at harvest.

Mrs. Beyer enjoyed bird watching, camping, canning, collecting frog memorabilia, cooking, fishing, gardening, and golfing. She liked spending time with her family and friends, but also looked forward to quiet times at home.

She is survived by her husband of more than fifty years, “Al”; her brother, Denis Ray Heemskerk, of Worthington, Minnesota; a step-sister and her husband, Linda and Ward “Harry” Andrews, of Hospers; her mother-in-law, Alma Lyzen, of Hull; several nieces and their spouses, including Kristy and Kevin Swenson, Amy and Jay Ripperda, and Sara and Harlo Vink; one great-nephew, and five great-nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Linda and Lyle Barenwald; Alan’s father, Henry Beyer, and step-father, Gerrit Lyzen; and a brother-in-law, Karl Beyer.

Memorials may be directed to the Hull Emergency Medical Technicians.
