Esther Smits, 57 passed away on Dec. 13 at the Sioux Center nursing wing. Funeral services were held at 1:30 Dec. 16 at the Maurice Reformed Church with Rev. Gary Van Koevering officiating. Special music was provided by Ray and Geraldine Schreur who sang "God's Way is the Best Way" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Stan De Boom as organist.
Burial was at the Sherman Township cemetery at Maurice under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.
Miss Smits was born July 25, 1915 at Maurice, was employed for several years in Los Angeles until she moved to Sioux Center Sept. 1972.
She is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Dick Haarsma of Orange City, Mrs. John Ruisch of Sioux Center, Theodore of Maurice, Mrs. Wm. Jongbloed of Clark, S.D. Dick of Worthington, MN. William of Maurice, Mrs. Elsie Medsker of Waupeton, N.D. and Marvin of Omaha.
One brother, Arie of Orange City and one sisters, Mrs. Walter Schreur of Alton preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Theodore Smits, Dick Smits, Wm. Smits, Marvin Smits, Wm. Jongbloed and Franklin De Haan.
