Regina Croat, 89, of Granville, Iowa passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2001 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, Iowa after a brief illness. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 19 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville with Msgr. Kenneth Seifried officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Granville under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Regina was born on April 9, 1912 in rural Granville, Iowa the daughter of Fredrick and Magdaline (Panther) Hunt. She was raised in the Granville area and received her primary education at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Granville. At the age of six, after the death of her parents, she lived with the Dominic Goergen family at Granville. At the age of twelve she moved to the Remsen area to live with her sister Rose and her husband Emil Loutsch where she completed her education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen. She married Clarence Croat on June 24, 1930 at Granville. They farmed near Granville until retiring and moving into Granville in 1962. Clarence died December 23, 1974. She had been a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center since October 31, 1996. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the church Guild, Catholic Daughters of America. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing and quilting.

She is survived by one son, Francis and his wife Georgia of Onamia, MN; three daughters and their husbands, Geraldine and Walt Schuver of Granville, Iowa; Clarice Jean and Marvin Dahlberg of Warroad, MN; Margie and Bob Schroeder of Le Mars, IA; 35 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Art (Cecilia) Chicoine of Salix, IA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Tony (Helen) Hunt of Granville, IA. She was preceded by one granddaughter, Mary Freking; four brothers, Francis at birth, Leo, John and Tony Hunt; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Lyon, Mrs. Emil (Rose) Loutsch, Mrs. Frank (Josephine) Hemmen.
