Sioux County Capital September 19, 1946

Funeral services for Otto B. Coyer, 57, Sioux Township farmer who died Saturday were held at Bethel Methodist church of Inwood. Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Coyer died in Sioux Falls hospital after a long illness and hospitalization. He was readmitted for hospitalization on Sept 7, and died several hours later the same day. Rev. Frederick G. Grantham officiated at the services at the Coyer home and at the church. Burial was in Sioux Township Cemetery four miles south of Inwood.

Mr. Coyer was born September 16, 1888, in Grant County near Livingston, Wisconsin. He was a year old when his parents moved to Sioux County. He was married to Margaret Tuynman on November 16, 1910, and he engaged in farming all his life. Mr. Coyer was a member of the Methodist Church of Inwood, and was affiliated with the Odd Fellow's Lodge of Rock Valley and the Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving are his wife and four children, Ernest of Inwood, Mrs. Harold De Vaul of Inwood, Mrs. Arnold Gilbertson of Hudson, S. D-, and Mrs. Stanley Porter of Inwood. Also surviving are his father, E. Eugene Coyer of Fairview; a sister, Mrs. Tressa Flickner of Sanborn; two brothers, Earl and Almon of Fairview, S. D., and three grandchildren, Gloria and Michael Gilbertson and Nancy Porter. He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother Dallas and an infant sister.
