Sioux County Capital March 16, 1961

Rites Thursday for Boyden man, suicide victim
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Vander Ploeg funeral home in Sheldon for Curtis Creswell, 27, of Boyden whose death on Sunday, March 5, was ruled as suicide by Sioux county authorities.

A lifelong resident of Boyden, Creswell was found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning in his car in the garage of his farm home south of Boyden Sunday night. Creswell's mother, Mrs. Jennie Creswell, discovered the body. The garage doors were closed and the motor running at the time. Sioux County Medical Examiner Dr. Roy Hassebroek of Orange City said the official verdict was suicide. Dr. Hassebroek indicated no note was found. Sioux county Sheriff Harry Dykstra also investigated the incident.

Creswell was born June 1, 1933 at Boyden. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Cecil of Boyden and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Zimmer of Cherokee. Rev. V. V.Schuldt of the Sheldon Methodist church officiated at the rites. Burial was in the Boyden cemetery.
