Services For AI Vande Vegte To Be Saturday
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon for Al Vande Vegte, 76, who died Monday night due to a heart attack. Mr. Vande Vegte had been ill for about eight, weeks having spent about four weeks in the Sioux Center hospital and four days at Rock Rapids. He had just returned home when he died suddenly Monday night. Rev. A. A. Dykstra will officiate at services in the First Reformed church at 2:00 p. m. Saturday. Services will be held at the home at 1:30 p. m.

Al Van De Vegte, long-time resident of Rock Valley, died at his home near Doon Monday evening, July 25, at the age of 76. Born in the Netherlands, he came to the United States with his parents at the age of 2 ½ and made his first home near Hospers, Iowa. The family next moved to a farm northwest of Rock Valley and after a few years moved to the farm southeast of Rock Valley where his son Harry now lives. Mr. Van De Vegte was married to Jennie Van Grevenhof October 19, 1904 and is survived by his wife, two sons, Henry o£ Bellflower, California and Harry of Rock Valley. One daughter Marie, preceded him in death on March 16, 1945. Seven grandchildren also survive, one passed away in infancy. Two sisters, Annie, Mrs. Martin Grevenhof of LeRoy, Minn.; Mary—Mrs. William Meendering, of Rock Valley and two brothers, Richard of Rock Valley and Henry of California survive him.
He was a life long member of the First Reformed church of Rock Valley.
Pall bearers at the service held from the First Reformed church Saturday afternoon at 1:30 were: Ed Jouwstra, Richard Mulder, Clifford Moore, Gary Van Engen, William Iwen and Dick Vink. The Rev. A. A. Dykstra officiated. Arrangements were by Van Der Ploeg Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Burial was at Rock Valley cemetery.
