William Beimers, about 55 a Sioux Center night policeman, was killed instantly Sunday night, when he was struck by a car two miles north of Sioux Center on highway 75.

According to Sioux county Sheriff Harry Dykstra, Beimers had followed a car out of Sioux Center to advise the driver that his lights had failed.

A£ter talking with the driver Beimers stepped into the opposite lane of traffic and was struck by a northbound car driven by JHVV, 19, of Rock Valley.

Both of Beimers legs were severed and the body was thrown up on top of the car and through the windshield.

Highway Patrolman Craig Vinson assisted in the investigation.

It was the 12th traffic fatality of the year in Sioux County.

Funeral services for Mr. Beimers were held Tuesday at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
