Mrs. Caroline Beckman, 71, long-time teacher in the Sioux City public school system, died Sunday at a hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Beckman resided at 301 Sixth Avenue, Sioux City.

She was born February 12, 1888, in Sioux City.

After residence outside Sioux City, Mrs. Beckman returned in 1913 and began her teaching career there. Her last position was at Washington School. She retired in July, 1953.

She was married to Harry Beckman in 1922 in Sioux City. Mr. Beckman died there in 1948.

Mrs. Beckman was a member of Grace Methodist Church; Wesley Service guild; Isis Chapter; Order of Eastern Star; Retired Teachers Association, local, state, and national; and the Sioux City Woman’s Club.

Survivors include a son, William of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Mrs. Harry Dunkleberg of Waterloo, Iowa, and a brother, George Hunter of Camarillo, California.

Interment was in Hope Cemetery at Hull, Wednesday.

Mrs. Beckman will be remembered here as Miss Hunter, who taught in the schools here before going to Sioux City in 1913. She and Miss Spicer, who later became Mrs. Bob Miller, also a teacher, roomed at the William De Roos home 45 years ago.
