Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, at Hull for one of the oldest residents born in Rock Valley.

Fred H. Klein, 78, longtime widely known resident of Rock Valley, died Saturday, June 18, in the Sioux Center hospital after an illness of 12 days. He suffered a heart attack June 7 from which he never recovered. Mr. Klein was born near Rock Valley Feb. 6, 1877, the son of Carl Klein and Maria Warner. Mr. Klein was born in a log cabin near Rock Valley and moved to the home farm where he lived for the rest of his life until his retirement some 10 years ago. Funeral services were held in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Hull and interment was in the cemetery there.
Pall bearers were Paul Nester, Wilbur Klein, Harold Schroeder, Minnie Jantzen, Albert Klein and Ivan Klein. Mr. Klein, was married to Christiana Gayer Oct 3, 1901 and they celebrated, their 50th wedding anniversary in 1951. Mrs. Klein died in July, 1953. Ten children were born to the match including one daughter, who died in infancy, Karl of Ft. Dodge,Ia., Harry Kersbergen (Hulda) of Rock Valley, Mr. Frank Kersbergen (Mable) of Luverne, Mn. Arthur of Rock, Valley, Ruben of Long Beach, Calif, Lloyd of Rock Valley, Mrs. John E. Vande Weerd (Esther) of Stockton, ILL. , Mrs. Marco Kessler (Rose) of Rock Valley and Robert, of Rock Valley. He is also survived by 2 5grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
