Little Marion Mason passed away early Wednesday morning after an illness of only a few days. The acute attack of inflammation of the bowels necessitated an operation which was performed Tuesday afternoon and seemed to give relief but the little sufferer became weaker and weaker and passed away early the next morning. The sad news of little Marion's sudden death cast a shadow over the whole community and every heart was touched with sympathy for the grief stricken family. Marion had been a beam of sunshine in the home and death in this case is a deep shadow. Little Marion was born in Alton August 4th 1906 and was therefore not quite five years old when she died. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Mason, and her little brother Ted. The funeral services were held this Friday afternoon. Short services were held at the house which were conducted by Rev. J.P. De Jong. The services at the Reformed church were conducted by Revs. J.P. De Jong and Louis Vanden Burg. The choir of Congregational church assisted in the services. The pall bearers were eight of Marion's girl friends--Alice Lincoln, Katherine Folger, Emily Eason, Dorothy Hyink, Tracy Mulder, Cornelia Vander Meer, Elsie Hyink and Myrtle Stronks. Interment was made in Nassau township cemetery.
