Mrs. Marjorie Menning, age 93, of Sheldon, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, at her residence.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, April 21, at 1:30pm, at the Newkirk Reformed Church in rural Hospers. The Rev. David Powers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Newkirk Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Marjorie Winifred was born on January 22, 1923 at Sheldon, the daughter of Henry and Tena (Boerhave) Reuvers. She attended a country school.

On December 25, 1944, she married Marion Menning in San Diego, California, where he was serving in the United States Navy and Marines. They made their home in Newkirk, where she was a homemaker. For 26 years, she was also a cook at the Newkirk Center of the Floyd Valley Schools. In 2012, they moved to Sheldon. Marion passed away on January 25, 2015, in Orange City, after more than seventy years of marriage.

Mrs. Menning was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Mission Fellowship. During retirement, Marion and Marjorie did mission work in Alabama.

She was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Menning, of Sheldon; her son, Marvin Menning, of Harwood, Maryland; three brothers and a sister and their spouses, Evert Reuvers, of Primghar; John and Bernice Reuvers, of Marshall, Minnesota; Winifred Simmelink, of Orange City; and Junior and Helen Reuvers, of Boyden; and five sisters-in-law.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carrie Reuvers; and a brother-in-law, Roland Simmelink.
