Henry Bauman died at his home in Rock Valley at one o’clock Friday, October 16 at the age of 75 years. He was taken seriously ill last March and was forced to remain in bed since that time.

Mr. Bauman was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on June 20, 1861. His early life was spent in Wisconsin.

Mr. Bauman was united in marriage with Gertrude Margaret Weis at Minneapolis, fifty two years ago. Shortly after their marriage they came to Rock Valley in 1885. They have made their home here every since.

Mr. Bauman is survived by his wife, and two daughters, who are Mrs. Mathilda Lomax and Miss Josephine Bauman, both of Minneapolis. Two sons, Tom and William preceded him in death.

As one of the first hardware merchants in Rock Valley, Mr. Bauman saw much of the building up of the town of Rock Valley. About thirty-five years ago he sold his hardware store. Since that time he had employed in the Schemer hardware store continually until he became ill in March.

Mr. Bauman was always a very prudent sportsmen. Hunting and fishing were his chief hobbies. He was considered one of the best marksmen in this part of the state. He proved his skill by the game he brought back from hunting trips.

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Bauman were held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Monday morning. Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery south of Rock Valley.
