INWOOD RESIDENT FOR 38 YEARS SUCCUMBED TO LONG ILLNESS JANUARY 14, 1952

Funeral services for Alfred P. Beckman, 65, who died Monday after a long illness, were held here Thursday, January 17th, at 1 o'clock at the residence and at 1:30 P.M. in the First Reformed Church.

Reverend Matt J. Duven officiated. Interment was in Hope Cemetery at Hull, Iowa. The pallbearers are Richard Bas, Walter Kuyper, John Van Dyke, Bert VerWey, Jake Porter, and Paul Noteboom.

Alfred P. Beckman was born on March 6, 1886, on a farm near Hull in Sioux County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. Alfred married Jennie Burggraaf on September 17, 1910 in Hull, Iowa. They are the parents of Frederick C. "Fred", Arie Peter & Alvina. Rock Valley, and Hudson, South Dakota.

During his 38 years of residence in this community, he operated a local dray and transfer business for many years. For a number of years he carried between the post office and railway depot for the postal department. Later he was employed at Inwood at Inwood Hatchery.

Surviving are his widow, Jennie; two sons, Fred and Arie and one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Alvina) De Zeeuw of Rock Valley; four grandchildren; one brother, Clarence of Melvin; a sister, Sylvia Shreve of Salem, Oregon.
