AGED HAWARDEN WOMAN IS DEAD
Mrs. Belle Chenoweth of Hawarden died about 1 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Hawarden hospital following an operation. She submitted to an operation for the removal of a kidney last Thursday morning and did not rally from the ordeal.

Funeral services will be held at the Associated church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon; with Rev. Clarence W. Hanscom in charge. Members- of the Eastern Star, lodge will participate In the services. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery.

Margaret Arabelle Barnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Barnes was born in Benton county, Nov. 20, 1865 and passed away in Hawarden, Feb. 17, 1943, at the age of 77 years 2 months and 27 days. She grew to young womanhood in Benton county and was married to C. J. Tyler there in-1880. For many years they lived at Madison, S. D. One son, W . J. Tyler, was born to this union, but he preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1930

She was married to E. H. Chenoweth in Hawarden in 1896. One son Frank Chenoweth, was born to this union, and he passed away May 11, 1910. .Mr. Chenoweth died in 1929. Mrs. Chenoweth took a niece, Mrs. A. E. Patterson, into her home when a small girl, following the death of her-mother, Mrs. C. E. Chenoweth. She now lives-at Inglewood, Calif., and arrived in Hawarden Wednesday night. As soon as Mrs. Patterson learned of her aunt's serious illness she started for Hawarden to be at her bedside, but arrived too late,

Mrs. Chenoweth is survived by two brothers, Charles Barnes of Elgin, IL, and M. S. Barnes of Yakima,
Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. D. N. Whitney of Albert Lea, Minn., and Mrs. S. H. Farwell of Iowa Falls, la. She also leaves three nieces, Mrs. W. H Miller and Mrs. Fred Vernon of Hawarden and Mrs. G. E. Norby of Sioux Falls.

Mrs. Chenoweth came to Hawarden in 1931 and for several years made her home with 'her niece, Mrs.
Fred Vernon, and family but for the past few years she lived alone. She was a member of the Methodist church. Of Watertown SD. Mrs. Chenoweth was of a quiet disposition and even though she seemed to have more than her share of sorrow, she always looked on the brighter side of life. Her aim in life was to help those less fortunate than she.
