Ireton and Vicinity Passed away in Sioux city Hospital
Mrs. Minnie Chenhall passed away at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City yesterday where she had submitted to an operation for appendicitis and obstruction of the bowels. She was taken to Sioux City on Monday of last week and on Tuesday she was operated on. Although her case was considered as serious one hopes were entertained of her recovery but her strength was not sufficient to throw off the poison. Hers was a beautiful life. Her husband preceded her in death many years ago, leaving her with three sons and together they farmed their place which is considered on of the best in Reading township. The mother’s management and the willingness of the sons made their work prosper and with a will to do success crowned their efforts on every hand. She was a splendid mother, her life was an example for others for follow. As a neighbor and friend she was ever read to lend a helping hand. As a Christion she was always earnest and ___rous of doing even more than her share. She was loved by young and old alike and she will be missed in the church congregation and Sunday school class where she was always present if weather permitted. Her sons will have the wealth in and fond memories and the great inspiration she was to them. All join in extening ing synspapthy to the bereaved.

Minnie Walker was born at Mineral Point, Wis., May 28, 1859, and died in Sioux City Oct. 1, 1927, at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage with James Ephriam Chenhall at Mineral Point, Wis., Nov. 27, 1884, to which union was born three sons, all of whom have grown to manhood. The -sons are Merwyn Thomas, James LeRoy and John Walker. The two former lived at home with their mother. The deceased changed her residence but once in the 68 years of her life, that being when she moved from Mineral Point, Wis., to her farm, four miles east of Ireton, Mrs. Chenhall united with the Methodist church in September, 1885, and has walked the way of a consistent Christian for 42 years.

Funeral services were, held .at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and were largely attended by those who loved her in life. The altar was a bower of beauty with cut flowers and ferns. The choir sang “Does Jesus Car” and In the Garden. Rev. Wm. P. Webb, the pastor, preached a very comforting and inspiring sermon. The pall bearers were John Votho, Dan Stewart, G. L. Houlton, Geo. Brown, E. a. Lindeman and Wm. Taylor.
