From the Alton Democrat, August 23, 1913: Rock Valley news:

An infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Schaarfma died Thursday and was buried Saturday, funeral services being conducted at the Christian Reformed church by Rev. John Holwerda.

There are several Schaafsmas in Sioux and Lyon counties in the 1915 Iowa state census. It is possible that this was the child of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Schaafsma, who in 1915 were aged 27 and 21 and had been in Iowa for two years.

There are also several Schaafsmas in the Sioux County Cemetery Index, although not this child.

The Rock Valley Bee is missing for this time period.
