Lois "Mother" Boyer, 68, or rural Hawarden died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1995, at her residence. Services were held Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Loren Volger officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Porter- Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Boyer was born April 23, 1926, on a farm in Eagle Township, Sioux County, the daughter of John and Louise (Miller) Heuer. She was baptized June 6, 1926, and confirmed May 28, 1939, at the Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center. She moved to Hawarden with her mother and brother in 1945. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1944. She worked at several business places in Hawarden including Mary's Quilts and More. She married Benton Boyer Dec. 16, 1946, at the Dwayne Grau Home near Ireton. The couple farmed north of Hawarden their entire married life. Mrs. Boyer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, the Voter's Assembly and Lamplighters. She was an active member of the Hawarden Hospital Auxiliary and Calliope Village.

Survivors include her husband; five sons, Bryon and his friend Jane Lustig of Cameron Park, Cali., Luke and Bill both of Hawarden, Dan and his wife Laurie of Ralston, Neb., and Aaron and his fiancee, Joyce Vreeman of Hawarden; three grandsons, Jesse Jared and Corey; two granddaughters Jennifer and Ashely; two brothers, Harold Hcucr of Rock Valley and Clarence Heuer of Hawarden; two sisters, Rose Roberts of Hawarden and Viola Grau of Ireton, and 14 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brother, Edwin and Johnny.
