Anthony "Tony" Johnson, 88, of Hudson died Monday, Nov. 14, 1994, at Colonial Manor at Hudson. Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hudson Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tammy Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 30 p.m., at the Porter Funeral Home in Hudson.

Mr. Johnson was born May 15, 1906, in rural Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Johanna Hemmingson) Johnson. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1924. He then worked as a farm laborer. He married Anna Hanson Sept. 6, 1930, at Webster, S.D. The couple farmed near Kanawha, Iowa from March 1, 1931, through March 1, 1934, when they farmed in the Norway Center and Fairview area, retiring in 1974. They moved to Hudson in 1979. Mr. Johnson was a charter member
of the Canton Sons of Norway Lodge, past member of Fairview Center School board and Fairview Township board. The couple spent 18 winters in south Texas. He moved to Colonial Manor at Hudson April 4, 1994.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Donald and Alice Johnson of Sioux Falls and Eugene and Carol of Rock Valley, Iowa; two daughters, Marilyn and her husband, John Trisch of La Crosse, Wis., and Clarice Fodness of Akron, S.D.; a sister- in-law, Grace Johnson of Ames, Iowa; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sonin- law, Mario Fodness; a great-granddaughter, Paige Franzmeier; six brothers and four sisters.
