Harlan R. Durling, 71, passed away January 29, 1994. Services were held Wednesday February 2, 1994, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alan W. Kamens officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Harlan was born September 22, 1922, in Sioux County, and had been a resident of Lansing, MI, since 1952 coming from Jackson, MI. He was a graduate of East Jackson High School (1940), and the U.S. Maritime Officer's Training School (1944) He was a Certified Public Accountant having retired from the state of Michigan as an Assistant Auditor General. He had also been employed by John Deere Company of Lansing; was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines having served in World War II- was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Betty J. (Wilson) Durling; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Dave Schumacher of Livonia, MI, Brenda and Mark Sprite of Lansing; four grandsons, Bryce and Kirk Schumacher; and Reid and Brendan Jaymes Sprite
